Let Workforce Funding
Pay for Your CDL.

Many ACE students pay $0 out of pocket. Not through a trucking company that owns your first year, but through public workforce programs that exist specifically to move people into careers like this one. Here is how it works.

The Programs

Texas Workforce Commission (TWC). The state agency that oversees workforce development. TWC approves schools like ACE and funds training through its network of local Workforce Solutions boards. This is the most common path to $0 tuition for our students.

WIOA. The federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act funds job training for eligible adults, dislocated workers, and young adults. In Texas it is delivered through your local Workforce Solutions office, so in practice TWC and WIOA funding flow through the same door.

Dislocated worker and trade adjustment assistance. If you were laid off, your plant closed, or your job moved overseas, additional funding streams may apply to you.

Eligible students frequently combine these to cover all or most of their tuition.

Who Tends to Qualify

Every case is decided by the workforce office, not by us, but the people who most often qualify include:

Working students are sometimes surprised to qualify. The rules look at your household, not only your paycheck. The only way to know is to check, which is why we do it for free.

How the Process Works

  1. Call ACE. Tell us your situation. We know what the local offices look for and we will tell you honestly whether it is worth pursuing.
  2. Connect with Workforce Solutions. You register and meet with a career counselor at your local office. They confirm eligibility and that trucking is an in-demand occupation, which it is.
  3. Choose an approved school. Funding can only go to a provider on the state's eligible training list. ACE is TWC approved.
  4. Get the authorization. The office issues approval for your training. We handle the paperwork on our end.
  5. Start training. Same program, same instructors, same on-campus testing as every other student.

The timeline varies by office and by how quickly you complete your paperwork. Students who show up to their counselor appointment with documents in hand move fastest.

"Free" With a Contract vs. Truly Free

Plenty of schools advertise free CDL training. Read the fine print and most of it is tied to one employer: a trucking company pays your tuition and you sign a contract, typically twelve months, to drive for them. They set your dispatch, your pay, and your miles. Leave early and you may owe the tuition back.

Workforce funding is different. It is a public investment in you, not a loan from an employer. When you graduate from ACE on TWC or WIOA funding you are free to take a job with any carrier you want, or a local company, or to go into business for yourself. Our cost and funding page lays out the whole comparison.

If You Do Not Qualify

Not everyone does. If funding is not available to you, we offer payment plans so cost is not what stops you. We will give you an honest, all-in number before you enroll, with no testing fee or range rental surprise later. Call 817-864-8086 and we will start with the free eligibility check.
